Use SEO to increase trafficSearch Engine Optimization (SEO) is a term used to optimize the content and relevancy of your webpage. Ideally, if you own a business, when someone searches for a keyword on a search engine relating to your business, your organization will appear at the top of the search results. However, some keywords can be highly competitive and you might wonder why your page is not showing. SEO uses various techniques such as on-page optimization and link building to make your content more relevant to search engines like Google. If Google determines that your content is highly relevant, your webpage will reflect that and show near the top of the results.
Understand the technical side of SEOThere is a technical component to SEO called technical SEO. These technical aspects are sometimes confusing, but at MMG we have a strong technical background with these matters and are able to discuss them in simple terms for non-technical people.
What do we mean by Technical SEO?
Interacting with files on your web server.
Controlling your robots.txt file
Making sure you have clean URLS
Editing files like .htaccess to configure elements on your site
Build great content that people will want to shareA massive component to SEO is building amazing quality content that people will want to share. Have you ever come across an article on the Internet with relevant information about something pertaining to you, or to someone close to you? Chances are if you have, that you will either save that article for future reference, or share it with someone by linking it to them. People who run websites or blogs are no different. If they see incredible content and it is relevant to their niche and think it might be relevant to their audience, they might want to share it on their webpage while creating a backlink to your original website.
How can Social Media help your business?
Everybody knows Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, but not everybody knows that these Social Media sites have the potential to grow your business exponentially. Social Media has the ability to promote your business, and to create trends involving your business in a variety of ways. In the last 10 years, Social Media has increased dramatically to the point where it's hard to find somebody without at least one social account. This trend, much like SEO, is only getting stronger and more businesses use a variety of methods to promote themselves such as Social Media Contests, Social Media giveaways, and also through interacting with their customers/followers.
Start #trending on Social MediaHave you ever heard the expression, "That video went viral!" Well, it's an extremely common expression when talking about Social Media. It says that a video reached a large amount of people, potentially in the millions. This is the power of social media. If you create a beautiful piece of content with a strong message, advertising a strong product, or something totally unique, it has the power to reach millions of people with the right mixture of promotion and luck.
Often with social media, timing is everything. A great example of this would be a website MMG worked on a couple years ago right before the release of a major gaming console, the PlayStation 4. We helped create a Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram network with a brand geared towards "fans" and it exploded overnight because the timing was absolutely perfect. If you think you have a product or business that might be a success on social media, it's better to start it now rather than later. MMG can help you with your social media strategy.
The power of promotion! If you have a strong product or brand, creating a strong community around that product or brand can be extremely beneficial. Never underestimate the power of promotion through a strong and loyal community. Do you follow any popular accounts of Facebook or Instagram? If you do, it's not uncommon to see that account advertising products for other pages, or businesses. A strong example of this would be from an account like @wildlifeplanet on Instagram. They have over 2.5 million followers and post great original pictures of animals. Every once in a while, you will see this account run a post for product of another page selling an item, for example jewelry made from natural gem stones. This type of promotion is common on Instagram and can be very lucrative.
Businesses will often buy a post on Instagram from popular accounts like @wildlifeplanet to promote their own product. Purchasing a post like this can be worth anywhere from $20-$500 depending on the popularity of the account. It is a mutually beneficial relationship between the buyer and the seller as they will most likely both prosper.
What is the advantage of a PPC campaign?
It might be beneficial for your business to run a PPC campaign to bring in instant traffic in hopes of converting that traffic into sales. If your business sells a product or service that is expensive, for example services from a lawyer, or dentist, a PPC campaign might be the right form of marketing. An $8 click on an advertisement can result in thousands of dollars worth of sales or revenue for your business. The results can sometimes been seen almost instantly, even at times within the same day or following day!
Unlike SEO, PPC ad campaigns rely on a budget where you use dollar amounts to bid on keywords like "toronto tax lawyer" in the example of the image to the left. If your ad is successful and someone clicks on it, you will be charged the amount which you bid on the keyword, hence the name Pay Per Click
If you are looking for instant results, PPC campaigns might be a good option. Results can be seen almost instantly. If you're looking for more organic growth with a longer lasting imprint on the Internet, SEO might be a better option for you. Or, you can do a combination of both SEO and PPC.
In my industry, my monthly income can vary since it is based on sales. I had an idea to apply SEO to my investment profile, and Rod from the Sherpas was able to improve my profile ranking on Google for multiple keyword terms. The result? I have made more money in the last 3 months from people finding me in Google. I started using their SEO methods about 5 months ago, and it couldn't have been a better decision.
As a criminal defence attorney, Steven helped grow my practice from the very start. He helped me build a strategy to rank for competitive keywords in Google. He also helped put up a website for me in a very quick time. His ongoing efforts have been greatly appreciated.
After starting a comprehensive Social Media campaign, the Sherpas were able to grow my Facebook group from having 50 likes, to 500,000 in under one year. He also grew my Instagram account to over 25,000 followers. Unlike other companies, these were REAL followers... no fake accounts!
